Notes when registering for UFJ online
Although the UFJ online application process is quite simple, there are still many cases of rejection or trouble due to omissions in the application process. Here are some important notes to keep in mind:
- Personal information must match: The name, date of birth, and address on the residence card and Juminhyo must match 100%. If there are any errors, the bank may reject the application right from the verification step.
- Residential address must be accurate and stable: The ATM card will be sent by post, so if you are moving or do not have a Juminhyo yet, please wait until your address is stable before applying.
- Japanese phone number is required: This is the channel for the bank to send the OTP verification code. If the phone number is not the owner's or disconnected, the application will not be completed.
- Clear photo of documents: When taking photos for your residence card or passport, make sure there is enough light and that the photos are not blurry or off-angle. If the photos do not meet the requirements, the bank will request a retake, prolonging the review time.
- Regular email and SMS monitoring: The bank may contact you to provide additional documentation or verify information. Failure to do so will result in extended processing times.
- Avoid registering multiple bank accounts at the same time: Some banks in Japan will be cautious with people opening many accounts in a short period of time, which can easily lead to application rejection.
- Foreign language preparation: The MUFG app is mainly in Japanese, so if you are not familiar with it, you can ask a friend or use a translation tool to avoid entering incorrect information.
